The Montana State BBQ Championship is scheduled for August 12th and 13th (Tuesday and Wednesday). This is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned, professional BBQ cooking competition. The competition will bring together professional and amateur BBQ teams from across the USA and Canada for two days of fun and competition at MontanaFair.
KCBS sanctioned events provide the most respected form of judging and scoring in the world of BBQ. KCBS provides representatives for the contest and access to certified BBQ judges who have been trained in how to judge world-class barbeque, using a blind judging process that is fair and void of personal knowledge of teams being judged.
Following the judging on Wednesday, August 13th, the teams may choose to offer samples for sale from 2pm until 5pm. “MontanaFair Bones Bucks” will be available for sale and tasting samples will be sold for one “Buck” per taste.
The “Kid’s Q” at MontanaFair BBQ event pits children from the ages of 6-16 in a contest to see who can BBQ the best steak in Montana. Rules state that an adult must accompany the children, but the children have to do all the preparation, seasoning and cooking on their own. Judges will award prizes and premiums in the contest for 1st to 10th place using Kansas City BBQ Society scoring (blind judging). All entries need to bring their own BBQ Pit. Only charcoal or wood pellets pits will be allowed. No gas pits please!
Entry fee is $35.00 per team (no more than 4 people per team and must include one adult). Entry Deadline is August 8th!
